What is Display Energy Certificates ? As part of the UK's response to the Energy Performance in Buildings Directive (EPBD), Display Energy Certificates (DECs) are required for all public buildings over 1,000 m2 from 01 October 2008. The certificates will need to be displayed in all buildings that are frequently used by members of the public and they are a measure of the Operational Rating, based on historical energy consumptions and a benchmark comparison with other similar buildings.
Do I need a Display Energy Certificates ? The following buildings may require a Display Energy Certificate ...
- Central and Local Government offices
- NHS Trusts
- Places of Education (including schools, colleges etc.)
- Police Buildings
- Courts and Prisons
- Buildings providing public services such as museums, art galleries
and swimming pools where the buildings floor area is greater than
1000m2.
